1960s


1961: 34 Taylor Street purchased from Mrs Fisher.

1962: 32 Taylor Street (Saunders's) and 36 Taylor Street (Obst's) purchased.

1963: 32, 34 and 36 Taylor Street houses sold for removal. First Parents' Committee meeting. Opening of the College Chapel. With 440 students (including 188 boarders) St Ursula's was the largest Catholic boarding school for girls in Queensland.

1965: Construction of two classrooms with dormitory area above (present Art Rooms and A14, 15).

1966: Opening of the Science Block built with assistance from the Commonwealth Government. The Block was opened on 21 November by Mr Schwartz, Minister for Civil Defence, and blessed by Bishop Brennan. Purchase of 1 Rome Street. Sister Assumpta Griffin osu was Superior. Sisters wear new habits.

1968: Kitchen enlarged and renovated.

1969: Sister Mary Ryan osu was Principal (1969-1973).
